Sometimes It Just Goes Wrong.

There was one session I did recently that just completely went wrong, and it was my fault. When planning a session, I almost always start with a mood board to organize my thoughts into something tangible. This shoot I decided to fly by the seat of my pants. I had decided to create a session for a lip gloss product that I absolutely loved. I had picked up a headscarf and a satin fabric to match the vibe of the product. Now in theory that may have gone together with some effort, but for whatever reason it just wouldn’t work for me. Not only did the styling part of the session go awry but, I couldn’t get the lighting to match the picture in my head. I tortured myself with this shoot for about an hour. And then I decided to take a step back and reshoot this another day. I basically restarted the process the right way. I created a mood board for the product. I planned a lighting situation that I believed would show the product beautifully. I came back to the studio with a clear head and a clear plan. With these steps taken I was able to do the product justice. So, my advice to whoever is reading this, please create a plan before starting a session! flying by the seat of your pants doesn’t work a majority of the time. You’ve got this!
